about

The current predicament we all find ourselves in has been a strange time in terms of creativity for myself. I thought that being at home and with my studio at my fingertips each day, I'd have plenty of output throughout this time.

However, early on I experienced what I can only describe (to my own horror), as a kind of falling out of love with music. I found I didn't have time to listen to much music and studio time turned out to be very limited as well as my creative urge feeling somewhat numbed.

These last two months have seen me wanting more from all things music related, so I began the process of looking back over my hard drives which are full of 16 bar loops I'd created and then discarded. I found myself drawn to two in particular. These eventually became 'Aurora' and 'Lonely'.

I then listened again to a few older tracks of mine. Some I'd finished, some I'd nearly finished. I realised that two of these would sit rather well with the previously mentioned tracks. These turned out to be 'Lapis Lazuli' and 'Cerulean Sky' with the former being something I nearly released as a single in 2019 and the latter having a release under a previous guise of mine back in 2016! Both were reworked and remixed.

I was also fortunate enough to buy myself a hardware synth (my first in a long time), the week before lockdown, so exploring that and having a 'hands on' feel to the music is something I'm very happy about. Elements are found throughout all four tracks. I feel it will bring some interesting new angles to writing tracks moving forward.

Anyhow, enough waffle. I very much hope you enjoy my new EP.

Thank you for listening.
